Programme 2011

Provisional outline programme

Friday 8th July 2011

The conference opens at 12.30 but pre-conference events start from 10.30. For early risers there will be a choice of events at 10.30 and again at 11.30. The events will part of the one-day CPD programme that we are running in parallel with the conference. Check out the details on the CPD pages on this site. These events are open to the full conference members on a first come first served basis.

12.30. The Exhibition opens and lunch will be available in the Exhibition area.

1.30. The Conference opens with a brief introduction and then a keynote speaker. As yet the timetable of keynote speakers has not been finalised.

3.00 – 5.30. There are two breakout sessions with a wide choice of events to go to. Some of the current highlights are posted under ‘breakout events’ on this website.

And if that’s not already enough, we have an early evening meet-up session to allow delegates to network and exchange ideas. Just to help this along we’ll provide a small glass of wine. This is followed by an evening meal and some light entertainments and space for relaxation to get you ready for Day 2.

Saturday 9th July 2011

If you are staying with us then the breakfast area is just next to the accommodation so you can fall into your first cup of coffee before starting off the second day. Like the first day, the second day also has a parallel session of CPD events which also form part of the full programme. Details of the likely workshops are shown on the CPD page and also the breakout page.

The day will focus on the delivery of psychology courses and will have contributions from all the Awarding Bodies for you to choose from along with a wide range of other events. We may ticket popular events and we will keep all delegates posted of these plans.

The highlight of the day will be the keynote talk by Elizabeth Loftus. It is not often that we have the opportunity to hear such a distinguished and influential speaker. She will be staying with the Conference and we hope that she will be able to contribute to a seminar as well as the talk, though clearly we don’t wish to impose on her generosity. She will be guest of honour at the evening meal.

The afternoon will finish off with a jamboree of electronic resources hosted by psychexchange.

The programme will go roughly like this

7.30 – 9.00. Breakfast

9.00 – 11.00. Breakout events

11.30. Keynote address

12.30. Lunch and events in the Exhibition area

2.00. Keynote address

3.00. Breakout events

4.30. Electronic resources and other events with psychexchange

5.30. ATP Annual General Meeting

7.00. Early evening mingle, followed by evening meal and entertainments

Sunday 10th July 2011

Sunday is a working day and a consolidation day. All the contacts and all the ideas now start to take shape. The focus of this day is on moving the agenda forward, developing materials, reviewing specifications, and sharing ideas for teaching. We will have a full range of breakout events but this time with some extra options for people to develop materials and share them.

The day starts again with breakfast followed by three sessions before lunch. After lunch the conference closes and we start getting ready for 2012 at Aston University.
